Farzad Mehdi Nia (born 1 June 1987) is a Kurdish singer, songwriter, world music artist, and founder and lead vocalist of the Hawraman Music Group. He was born in the village of Zhivar in the Hawraman Takht district of Kurdistan Province, Iran, a region renowned for its rich cultural traditions and musical heritage. Farzad began his professional music career in 2013 and gained widespread recognition after participating in the Kurd Idol competition in 2017, where he became one of the most popular contestants and finished as the runner-up.

Roots and early career

Farzad Mehdi Nia (born 1 June 1987) is a Kurdish singer, songwriter, world music artist, and founder and lead vocalist of the Hawraman Music Group. He was born in the village of Zhivar in the Hawraman Takht district of Kurdistan Province, Iran, a region renowned for its rich cultural traditions and musical heritage.

Farzad began his professional music career in 2013 and gained widespread recognition after participating in the Kurd Idol competition in 2017, where he became one of the most popular contestants and finished as the runner-up.

Siah Chmaneh

At the heart of Farzad’s artistic work is a deep commitment to preserving and revitalizing Siah Chmaneh, an ancient Kurdish vocal tradition originating from the Hawraman region.
